This is Mr. Feiler with our weekly message.

Tomorrow, October 12th is Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day and is a regular school day for teachers and students. Schools are closed for students this Friday, October 16th for professional development.

Ms. Johnson, our school counselor, wanted to remind our 5th grade parents that the Magnet Program Application deadline is Tuesday, October 20 at 1pm. More information on Magnet programs can be found on the BCPS website.

Seneca is excited to invite everyone to participate in Learn With Me, an opportunity to partner with teachers and staff and discuss your child's individual learning progress data, learn strategies to support your child at home in their learning, and then join your child in their classroom and learn together! The dates are Nov 12th for kindergarten through 2nd grades and Nov 18th for grades 3 - 5. Breakfast will be served and the first 10 people to RSVP will receive a bag of pantry items! The flyer went home on Friday with information about registering. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Sing & Swing a Story information has been distributed to families. The program starts on Thursday, October 29th from 11 – 11:30 am in the Seneca trailer. Please remember the Sing & Swing a Story Program is open to children from 1-4 who have never attended school and their parent or guardian, not students currently attending Seneca.

The first session of basketball for grades 3-5 is full at this time. Thanks to everyone who turned in the permission slip. Basketball starts on Thursday, October 21st from 4:15 – 5:15 pm in the gym. Please remember to pick your child up no later than 5:15 pm.

The Yoga program for grades 1 and 2 will begin on Wednesday, October 28th, at 8 – 9:00 am in the gym at Seneca. Permission slips and information have been sent home. Students should enter through the main school door to be checked in by Mrs. Engle. For more info call 443-809-5945 or email [email protected].

The PTA would like to invite everyone out this Thursday evening for our Halloween Movie Night! We will be showing the movie Hocus Pocus and the movie will start at 6pm in the gym! Free popcorn and drinks for students, and the PTA will be selling Chick-fil-a nuggets and sandwiches. Families are welcome to bring comfy blankets or chairs. Reminder this is not a drop off event, parents must stay with their children.

Flyers for the PTA Community Trunk-or-Treat will be coming home with students this week! The event is Friday, October 30th from 6-7:30pm, and this year will open to the community! The PTA is looking for trunkers to participate and the PTA will need lots of candy donations! Please drop off candy donations to the PTA candy bin in the office at school. We appreciate everyone’s help in making this year’s Trunk-or-Treat the best yet!

Hearing and Vision Screening notification: BCHD will be at Seneca doing hearing and vision screening for pre-kg, 1st and 4th grade students, new KG students, and any new students to BCPS. Testing dates are 11/4, 5th, and 6th. If you students wear glasses, I would encourage your students to wear their glasses. If you do not wish to have your student assessed, please a send a note to the nurse’s office or email the nurse at [email protected]. If you would like your child to be assessed and they are not in the above grades, again email, send a note or call the nurse’s office, 443-809-5780.
